Welcome to AnimalAntix... I recently redesigned their web site. It didn't take me long all in all I think it was about two days worth of hard work. It still needs some work doing to it but you get the idea of the site from this image.

The last 3 weeks

First things first I was suppose to finish that fashion web site I was working on but things came up. First a DJ friend of mine needed his web site re-designing so I redid the home page for him. For the time being its just one page with information about him and a link for his myspace and facebook page. At so point in the future there will be a page for other artists and media to be displayed on the site.

Secondly I have been putting the finishing touches to the animation I was working on. It now runs a lot smother and there’s now a 3 second pause on each section of the poster.

Thirdly I have been spending a bit of time on adding a Flickr feed and a Twitter feed on my web site. Not to mention a bit of a redesign to the site mainly to the footer and the header, the footer now has a fence like pattern and the header has my name in a very colourful and bold way. I think in the next few weeks I’ll try and re do the header and add some kind of logo.

Hey here's the index (home page) for the fashion site I decided to challenge myself on. I would have posted this earlier but I was super busy with other work. In total it roughly took about 8-12hours to do this one page. Eventually I will do some more pages on this fashion site to finish it off but all so I'll add a wire frame model. That way you can see the outline to each part of the page.

Animated poster

This is the draft version of an animated poster that I have designed for the school of Art, Media and Education at the University of Bolton. The animation is about 80% complete. It was designed in adobe illustrator and imported into adobe after effects. Each vector image had to have its own layer in illustrator for me to have complete control over the effects I needed to add. The main technique used were using the mask tool to make the loops animate around the screen.

On Saturday, 4 April 2009 in my post "Build a Sleek Portfolio Site from Scratch" I made a mistake with the coding.

The correct coding should be for page1 in the web design site should be...

The problem was that I had a Div called "outside_container" this was trying to repeat an image horizontally. And then an image repeated vertically both with a black background colour. This confused the browser and didn't display the website in the way I wanted it to. The solution was to have each background:url(images/#######.jpg) on its own Div tag. Then I needed the "wrap_container" to set the background colour to black which is #000

Shazam! the site works "page1" displays the site how it should be and "page2 with bug" shows one of the problems I had

Castlerigg Manor

Last August I stayed at Castlerigg Manor in the Lake District. As a web designer was a bit shocked at their web site design being stuck in the late 90’s. So with having some spare time over Easter I went about looking for some free CSS templates that could replace their old site. It didn’t take long to find a good thanks to www.styleshout.com with a little bit of playing around I alter the site to suit the needs of Castlerigg Manor. Please check out the three images below to see the original site, the free CSS template and the slight modification I made to it.

The main reasons for doing this was to give me some practice and to experiment with CSS. Sometimes you can learn a lot by looking at other peoples designs and coding.

I’ve just spent a day or two working on tutorial from PSDTUTS and NETTUTS. I decided to combine their design with HVDESIGNS portfolio layout #4.

In the nettuts tutorial they’ve opted to have three columns of text. For mine I could only fit two columns so by changing the CSS file I could have format it to fit my site. Once this once done I wanted to see what would happen if I added extra text to the site. By doing so the text would over run the footer of the page. By adding the clear property it would stop the content floating over the footer part of the page. Everything was looking ok but because I used HVDESIGN tutorial to have a rectangle banner down the side of the page. It left a gap from the bottom of the image to the footer. I shovelled this by adding an image to the outside_container and having it repeat vertical.

For example the original CSS is

And to fix the bug I had too add an extra bit of coding

Loopy Poster

This is a recent piece of work that I was asked to create. Its based on the Cowan Diagram showing the learning cycle the we all go through at some point in our lives. It was designed using Adobe Illustrator and printed on an A1 sheet of gloss paper. It could have been made in Photoshop but I prefer being able to scale an image without losing any quality. Plus it helps to keep the file size down. At the moment I'm turning this poster into a motion graphic using Adobe After Effects.

That's It, That's All

– A High Definition Snowboard film.

In September 2008 That's It, That's All came out and today I final tracked it down. I saw one copy of it months ago and thought… nar I’ll get it next week. When next week came the film was sold out where ever I went. So finally today I found a copy and bought it, I’ve been wanting to see an awesome back country snowboard film for a few years and this is it. The only down side is there no jibbing in the entire film. Which is all right but a single clip of some street rails would have be top. Overall this film is 5 out 5 with or without freestyle

Good day mate!

Hello and welcome to my bog roll *I mean blog* …. Cough … cough anywho, a little bit about me - I'm a graphic/web designer from Manchester. I have spent the last 12 months dealing with XHTML/CSS to graphic design in Photoshop and Illustrator. I graduated in July 2007, once graduated I started doing some freelance work for the University of Bolton. I do have put some of my work online at talentdatabase.com For some reason when viewing the site their server/site always seems to lag or not work (it use to work but lately it hasn't been). Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be posting some of my current work that I have been doing.
